Biographical / Historical
The Alexandria Recital Series was founded by Willis Bennett in 1980 and operated until 2002. The organization hosted classical music recitals once a month from September through May at the Lyceum. These recitals were free to the public and featured developing as well as established musicians who performed for a small fee. The organization operated on donations, grants from the Alexandria Commission for the Arts, and money collected from benefit performances that were held once per year.
